Located within Mementos by ITC Hotels, Ekaaya in Udaipur, the project represents a seamless blend of Rajasthan’s regal heritage and contemporary hospitality design. Conceived as an immersive dining environment, Royal Vega reinterprets traditional palace architecture and ceremonial grandeur into a modern, curated experience that celebrates culture, craftsmanship, and luxury.

The design vision is rooted in the idea of translating the essence of royal dining traditions into a contemporary spatial narrative. Inspired by the architectural vocabulary of Rajputana palaces, the restaurant evokes a sense of timeless elegance through carefully crafted forms, proportions, and detailing. Symbolic elements such as elephants, horses, and peacocks are subtly integrated into the design, reinforcing a deep connection with regional identity and storytelling.

A defining feature of the project is the reinterpretation of traditional chhatris into suspended lighting elements. These sculptural fixtures act as focal points within the space, creating a rhythmic ceiling language while enhancing the overall ambiance. This approach reflects a balance between heritage inspiration and modern design innovation.

The spatial planning of the restaurant is intimate yet efficient, accommodating 32 guests across a series of thoughtfully arranged seating clusters. The inclusion of private alcoves introduces a sense of exclusivity, allowing for personalized dining experiences while maintaining visual connectivity across the space. Circulation is carefully planned to ensure smooth movement for both guests and service staff, enhancing operational efficiency.

The architectural language is defined by a composition of arched openings, symmetrical layouts, and framed alcoves. These elements create a layered spatial experience that unfolds gradually, guiding users through a sequence of visually rich environments. The interplay of symmetry and depth reinforces the sense of grandeur while maintaining a human-scaled intimacy.

Material selection plays a crucial role in establishing the restaurant’s identity. Marble flooring with intricate floral inlays forms the base, complemented by engraved wall panels and finely detailed ceiling treatments. A neutral material palette allows the richness of textures, patterns, and craftsmanship to stand out, creating a balanced yet luxurious atmosphere.

Lighting design is approached with precision to enhance both functionality and mood. The space maintains illumination levels above 300 lux, ensuring clarity while preserving a soft and ambient quality. The combination of chhatri-inspired fixtures and concealed lighting creates a layered lighting environment that highlights textures, artworks, and architectural features.

Furniture and interior elements are custom-designed to reflect regal aesthetics. Rich fabrics, gold-toned accents, and finely crafted details contribute to an environment that feels both opulent and comfortable. The use of traditional silverware further enhances the authenticity of the dining experience, connecting users to the cultural narrative of the space.

Art and craftsmanship are integral to the project. Collaborations with local artisans bring in handcrafted artworks depicting royal processions and cultural motifs, adding depth and storytelling to the interiors. This integration of art reinforces the project’s commitment to preserving and celebrating regional heritage.

Ultimately, Royal Vega Restaurant stands as a curated cultural experience—where architecture, interior design, and hospitality converge. The project successfully bridges tradition and modernity, offering an environment that is immersive, refined, and deeply rooted in its context. It is a testament to thoughtful design, where every element contributes to a cohesive narrative of luxury, culture, and experience.
